Eric Canete est venu aux États-Unis quand il avait environ 12 ans. Il a été à l'école publique mais a vite arrêté car il a commencé à travailler très tôt.
A environ 17 ans, il réalisait des décors pour diverses émissions d'animation pour la télé comme "The X-Men", "EXO Squad", ... Puis il a eu son premier poste titulaire en tant que character designer sur « Phantom 2040 ».

Artiste autodidacte, la meilleure "école" pour lui fut au contact d'autres professionnels. Certains de ses projets passés dans le milieu de l'animation sont Aeon Flux, Men In Black, Dark Fury, The Batman, Justice League Unlimited, Ben10 et pour la bande dessinée : 2.0 Cybernary, Iron Man : Enter The Mandarin, Comic Book Tattoo, The End League.
